Overview
General Duties
This is a 4-month position that primarily focuses on backcountry expedition logistics. The responsibilities of the position include supporting multi-day wilderness trips by assisting with food and gear prep, repair and maintenance of AAA equipment (tents, sleeping bags, inflatable boats, etc.), maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse facility, providing van shuttles with occasional long-distance pick-up/drop-off, and interacting with guests during pre-trip orientations. In addition, there may be opportunities to guide during the season which will be dependent on scheduling, staffing, and prerequisite certifications held by the applicant.
Specific Duties
•AAA Kitchen: Assist with inventory, food packing, and kitchen organization to ensure all trips depart with the proper provisions, and any substitutions for dietary/allergy-related food have been made before guides pick-up food on their Day-0.
•Gear/Warehouse: Assist with gear/equipment (with oversight from the Program Manager), including gear organization, inventory, and tracking, cleaning, repairs, and has oversight of guides during pre/post-expedition rig and breakdown.
•Guide Assistance: Work closely with the guide staff to communicate trip needs and make sure they are fully supported. Help create a consistent flow of communication between the office and the community of guides.
•Risk Management: Assist with on-call risk management during the trip season in the event of an emergency or for logistical assistance for trips in the field. Logistics Manager may share on-call duties as needed with office team.
•Trip Logistics: Assist with the organization of trip logistics, Guest Orientations, van shuttles.
Qualifications:
Our high season is from mid-May to mid-September, and there is off-season work on either end. Workdays during the summer high season can very between 8-10 hours per day with one to two days off per week, at the discretion of the Program Manager. There may be some flexibility as the work schedule can ebb and flow with trip departures and returns. Start and end dates can be flexible to accommodate school schedules.
Required Skills:
• Minimum 21 years of age and legally allowed to work in the US
• Current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification (if interested in field work)
• Valid Driver’s License & excellent driving record.
• Food Handlers Card (available and reimbursed after start date)
• Organized and able to build, and maintain, efficient systems
• Excellent conversational skills and customer service orientated
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying 70+ pounds
• Positive attitude and supportive team player
Preferred Skills:
• Prior experience in trip support and logistics
• Prior experience with a variety of backcountry gear repair

Our staff includes the AAA Owner, Program Manager, Office & Reservations Manager, and we typically employ 20 guides throughout the summer guiding season. Each of the office staff (including the Warehouse Lead) does a variety of jobs and works closely together to keep operations running efficiently and effectively as a team. Our agile company structure allows us to be flexible in our programming and there are opportunities to take on unique projects.
