Purpose:
Stewards Individual Placements (Stewards), a program of Conservation Legacy, provides individuals with AmeriCorps service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants serve with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits to provide institutional capacity, develop community relationships, and support ecosystem health. Stewards in partnership with the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park will host a Community Engagement Individual Placement.
This Community Engagement Individual Placement is an AmeriCorps position that will help expand the park’s reach by assisting with outreach events, developing community-focused materials, and supporting targeted volunteer recruitment. Through service-learning projects, the individual placement will create meaningful opportunities for local schools and groups to connect with the park while contributing to stewardship efforts. The position will also strengthen partnerships with community organizations, resulting in co-hosted programs and lasting collaborations. Collectively, these efforts will leave behind sustainable resources, stronger relationships, and measurable increases in community awareness and participation at Jimmy Carter National Historical Park.
This position will work directly with interpretive leadership to meet community stakeholders and local leaders and engage with them to maintain, foster, and develop working relationships to increase visitor use, volunteerism, and promote involvement from all members of the community.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
· United States citizen, United States national, or a lawful permanent resident alien
· Applicants must be between ages of 18-30 years old, or up to 35 for veteran, based on Public Land Corps Act of 1993 authorizing this AmeriCorps opportunity.
· Has received a high school diploma or equivalency certificate; or has not dropped out of secondary school to enroll as an AmeriCorps participant and agrees to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to using the education
