Overview

Adventure Treks is seeking an admissions manager to join our team in western North Carolina (with some opportunities for remote work). The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly motivated, and meticulously detail-oriented and will be primarily responsible for the admissions and sales process for our students. The candidate must value creating long-term relationships with families and students; be enthusiastic about communicating the benefits and growth opportunities that Adventure Treks experiences provide; and will fully support the Adventure Treks mission: to create the safest, most exciting, and most substantive outdoor adventures for young people through our personal attention to every student, our caring, and our competence.

• Maintain a high-quality work ethic and standard with commitment to the Adventure Treks mission
• Work closely with the director to manage the comprehensive admissions process regarding recruitment, enrollment, and retention:
– Promote the values and benefits of Adventure treks to prospective families
– Develop efficient workflows and systems for evaluating applicants
– Create, implement, and report on annual goals, objectives, and deadlines
– Maintain meticulous records of interviews with families, students, and references
• Synthetize, organize, and prepare student records for the summer season
• Cultivate relationships with new and returning families
• Assisting in the sales process for prospective and returning families
• Uphold and model all Adventure Treks standards, policies, and procedures
• And a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the safe and successful operation of our programs, including (but not limited to) answering phones, assisting with staff and parent resources and manuals, assisting with field staffing, writing blogs, and anything else that helps ensure the smooth and successful operation of Adventure Treks

Candidates must be available during our typical office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. eastern; longer office hours may be required when we have students in the field from mid-June to mid-August.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• Several years' experience working in schools or youth development, the outdoor industry, or the summer camp industry

Required Skills:

• Superior organizational and communication skills, and extremely detail-oriented
• Superb time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
• Ability to adapt to ever-evolving best practices and industry standards
• Ability to create rapport with families from different backgrounds and cultures
• Self-starter, critical thinker, and creative problem-solver
• Proficiency in cloud-based databases (e.g., Google Drive) and Microsoft Office

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in customer service and regularly communicating with repeat clients
• Knowledge in sales and lead development
• Able to work independently, demonstrate integrity and honesty, and learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Passion and true appreciation for outdoor adventure and conservation
• Passion for working with young adults
• Occasional travel may be required
• Marketing experience is a plus and may lead to additional opportunities and compensation

About Adventure Treks

Adventure Treks operates 13- to 31-day community-based outdoor adventure summer programs for teenagers in the North American west. We also operate gap semester programs in North Carolina, Washington, Oregon, and Costa Rica. Our program goals for students include creating a close and inclusive community of peers and genuine, long-lasting friendships; improving 21st century skills; and developing a love and passion for outdoor recreation and conservation.
