Overview
Alzar School + Gap is an independent semester school that has been a leader in experiential education for high school age students, with beautiful, inspiring permanent campuses in the mountains of Idaho and in Patagonia, Chile. Alzar’s robust experiential education program allows students to elevate their leadership through meaningful, multi-week expeditions, weekend and after school activities, and intentional courses. Faculty and students are passionate, engaged, and united by a commitment to the school’s foundations. Alzar seeks a Student Wellness, Experience, and Leadership Coordinator (“SWELC”), which has the primary goal of ensuring that the semesters offer students a meaningful, productive, and powerful experience. The SWELC supports student’s growth and development across multiple departments within the school, leading the health and wellness program, serving a first responder to student conduct incidents, and preparing gear and food for expeditions, activities and courses. The SWELC reports directly to the Director of Experiential Education & Risk Management, but also collaborates regularly with the Director of Student Success, Equity & Belonging. The SWELC will likely teach a section or sections of an academic class. Additionally, the SWELC helps foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all community members. The SWELC serves in the “administrator on call” role, providing support to programmatic staff on designated shifts after business hours / on the weekend.

The SWELC position is based out of our campus in Cascade, Idaho and works for extended
periods of time in Patagonia, Chile. The SWELC is provided with housing on campus in Idaho and shared housing while in Chile. The SWELC shall live and work in Patagonia, Chile during the time that students are abroad. Each year, this is from approximately October 24 to December 16 and January 27 to March 23 (~8 weeks per semester). This is a twelve month, full-time, exempt salaried position. This position starts July 1, 2026 and we will offer the selected candidate a two-year initial contract. Alzar School employees motivate, inspire, and educate our students both in and out of the classroom. They are passionate educators
who are excited to share their knowledge of content areas, enthusiasm for the outdoors, and curiosity for cultural learning. We invite applicants from a variety of backgrounds to apply, and firmly believe that a diverse team enriches our staff community and connections with students.
