Alzar School teachers motivate, inspire, and educate our students both in and out of the classroom. They are passionate individuals who are excited to share their knowledge of content areas, enthusiasm for the outdoors, and curiosity for cultural learning.
Alzar School teachers serve as high school academic classroom teachers, residential leadership (through rotating duties) and outdoor instructors, specifically in the area of backpacking and/or whitewater rafting or kayaking. Teachers travel with students to spend 7 weeks in Patagonia, Chile each semester, and the rest of the semester at our campus in the mountains of western Idaho. See more info via links below!
Strong knowledge of content area -either through past studies, professional experience, or direct teaching experience

Embraces dynamic working environments, including outdoor and international settings
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Enjoys interacting with students, families, and colleagues
Robust experience in program-specific outdoor sports:
1) multi day backpacking trips in backcountry settings
2) intermediate proficiency in whitewater river environments (either rafting and/or kayaking)
3) transferable skills from other outdoor activities

About Alzar School
Alzar School is a semester school for students in 10th and 11th grades. Students are highly motivated teenagers who want to make a difference in the world. Alzar School’s main campus is in Cascade, Idaho, but each semester includes extended cultural immersion in Chile. Faculty travel with the students to Chile, living and working there for approximately seven weeks each semester. Alzar School offers students challenging and engaging instruction at Honors or AP level. We accomplish our mission to ‘build leaders who positively impact the world’ through the intersection of academics, outdoor adventure, and cultural immersion.
