Overview

We are seeking a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for the preparation and execution of many of our day-to-day accounting and reports directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting. This role requires experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll preparation, and assists in general ledger reconciliations.

Accounts Receivable

Works with admin staff to process and deposit incoming checks
Records cash receipts, including incoming wires, in Xero
Communicates with appropriate staff when donations and grants have been received
Processes adjustments to accounts as needed

Accounts Payable

Codes, enters and sets up payables in BILL for payment approval
Acts as initial contact for vendors
New vendor setup, including collecting W-9s; works with our bookkeeping firm on annual submission of 1099s
Schedules payable check runs/ePayments of invoices through Bill.com
Prepares domestic and international bank wires using online banking system

Payroll

Processes payroll with Director of Finance and Accounting
Interacts and assist staff with payroll inquiries

Other duties include:

Assists in month end and year end closing, including general ledger
Assists with:
creating grant financial reports
budget and forecast report preparation and generation
financial statement preparation and finance update presentations
annual audit preparation
special projects as assigned
Attends and participates in Staff, Finance and bookkeeping firm team meetings

Qualifications:

Experience with Xero and BILL software is preferred
Experience with Gusto payroll preferred but not required
High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
High proficiency in Google sheets and docs
Excellent knowledge of A/P, A/R and Expense Reporting
Familiarity, general knowledge of GAAP
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Handles confidential financial information in an appropriate manner
Accounting experience: 2 years
Accounting-specific education and training
