Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Naturalist Guide for the upcoming summer guiding season in the Prince William Sound. We are looking for a guide who can represent Anadyr Adventures’ values of safety, professionalism, a focus on natural and historical interpretation, and a love for fun and adventure. Guides can expect to lead day tours from a few hours to 10 hours, and multiday tours from 2 days to 8 days. Our guides seek to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among participants, emphasizing Leave No Trace principles and promoting conservation efforts in the region.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a sea kayaking guide, in coastal environments is preferred but not required.
Proficient kayaking skills and a solid understanding of navigation techniques, or a willingness to learn and practice skills
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage diverse groups.
Knowledge, or willingness to learn, of local flora and fauna
Comfortable working in varied weather conditions
Required Skills:
Current First Aid and CPR certifications are required, with a preference for Wilderness focused certifications
Current driver's license and a clean driving record
Team player
Ability to lift and carry kayaks weighing upwards of 80lbs+ over slippery, rocky terrain in teams.
Ability to load and unload 80lbs+ kayaks from water taxis, trailers and kayak racks, sometimes requiring lifting boats overhead in teams.
Ensure personal equipment, including a VHF Marine Radio, rain gear, PFDs, is well maintained
Preferred Skills:
Guide groups of varying skill levels on sea kayaking adventures, navigating through scenic waterways.
Oversee safety protocols during trips, including navigation, weather assessment, and emergency response.
Conduct multi-day expeditions, providing camping expertise and facilitating a memorable wilderness experience.
Foster a positive and engaging atmosphere by providing informative commentary, answering questions, and facilitating group interactions, ensuring an enriching experience for all participants.

Pay is per trip for tours and hourly for standby duties. Pay rate increases for successive seasons on staff. Pay starts at ~$14-15/hr (DOE) for first year guides. Guides can expect tips as well
