Andrew Skurka Adventures is looking to add up to two Lead Guides and up to three Junior Guides to our all-star roster. New guides will be assigned to in:
– Escalante, Utah: Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, May 8; and/or,
– High Sierra, California: Saturday, July 16 through Sunday, July 31
Our preference is that the new guides work both locations, but I will consider applicants who are only available for or interested in one.
These positions are seasonal, and should be considered a supplement to steadier full-time work, a fun and rewarding retirement project, or an additional contract in a larger freelance portfolio.
This season we will likely need help only in Utah and California, although we would consider assigning these new hires to Washington and/or West Virginia as well if it was geographically convenient. In future seasons there will be an opportunity for more work — in 2022, the busiest guides are leading trips for about 45 days in three different locations.

About Andrew Skurka Adventures, LLC
Andrew Skurk Adventures offers learning-intensive and adventure-filled backpacking courses and trips. Since 2011 we have completed 168 trips with about 1,300 total clients.
We have assembleded a world-class guide team of true backpacking experts, and specialize in modern gear and technique, long-distance thru-hiking, mountain high routes, and off-trail travel.
Our goal is to empower clients with skills and knowledge so that they can be self-sufficient in the wilderness, lead our group, and undertake future trips of their own. We also like to have fun, make new hiking friends, and expand our comfort zones.
We have trips for beginner, intermediate, and advanced backpackers. Then we sub-divide these groups in five fitness levels (low through extreme) so that they hike at about the same pace and need breaks of similar frequency and length.
