Compensation – Starting rate for California locations is $23/hour. Your hourly rate may be more based on your experience and/or certifications. Check out our compensation page for more details.

We are hiring Survival Skills Instructors for the following Bay Area locations:

Oakland
Cupertino
Burlingame
Mill Valley
Menlo Park
**Our non-driving Camp Instructor positions at all of our California camps have been filled. Applicants must be at least 21 years old at the start of camp in order to drive Avid4 Adventure vehicles and campers.**

In this role you will

Co-lead groups of up to 13 campers in age and developmentally appropriate instruction with outdoor activities including: shelter building, fire making, navigation, plant and animal identification, and Leave No Trace principles.
Survival Skills Instructors may be asked to also instruct our other core sports – paddling, rock climbing, and mountain biking. We will provide you with all of the hard and soft skills you need to succeed in this position.
Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities.
Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants.
Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, about 40 hours/week
Mandatory training begins May 27. Programs begin June 5 – June 19 (location depending) and run through August 4 – August 11 (location depending).

Qualifications:

Job Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp (all non-driver positions have been filled)
Staff must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license to drive camp vehicles, equipment, and campers. Drivers receive a 2% pay increase
+1 years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting preferred
