Overview

Big Sky Youth Empowerment (BYEP) is a nonprofit adventure-based mentoring program in
Bozeman, Montana, that has served vulnerable youth in the Gallatin Valley for the past 24 years.
BYEP offers a group social emotional life skills curriculum paired with outdoor adventures to
youth in grades 7-12, serving around 150 teens annually. Our mission is to create a
transformative community where vulnerable teenagers experience belonging, purpose, and
well-being through group mentorship, adventure, and connection with the natural world.
The Engagement Coordinator works directly with the Business Development & Events Manager
and Marketing & Communications Manager as a part of the BYEP Development Team. As a BYEP
ambassador, they will represent BYEP at tabling and community events, assist in the execution of 4
major fundraising events, and support telling BYEP’s stories and impact. The Engagement
Coordinator is stoked about our mission and excited to share what we do with our community.
The ideal candidate is a confident, driven, and motivated self-starter who is an excellent writer and
storyteller. They are able to expertly communicate with stakeholders such as donors, volunteer
mentors, teen participants, and partners as they share our mission and impact. They share a
passion for building community and have an interest in programs that focus on youth
development. This candidate loves the outdoors and BYEP’s mission, and brings a fun, positive
energy to the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
● Work with Marketing & Communications Manager to create content for and post on
BYEP’s social media channels
● Capture stories of BYEP’s impact by talking with teens, mentors, alumni, and staff
● Join workshops and adventures to take photos and video
● Act as the initial point of contact at BYEP for general email inquiries and on site visitors

Events
● Assist in event planning such as collaborating with vendors, organizing decor, planning
donor gifts, and post event tasks including raffle prize distribution and vendor follow up
● Assist in recruiting, scheduling and supporting teen participant/alumni speakers for events
● Assist in the execution of 4 major events every year

Outreach
● Represent BYEP at 6+ community and programmatic tabling events throughout the year
such as volunteer recruitment events, Catapalooza, movie screenings, pint nights,
Christmas Stroll, etc.
● Manage donor stewardship tasks such as thank you card mailings and monthly meetups
● Assist with program-related needs and events such as Gear Distribution day, BYEP
Graduation, BYEP Thanksgiving, and general staff duties as necessary
● Assist with internal communications and content creation for parent / mentor blog
● General administrative and clerical duties

Required Skills:

Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to effectively multi-task and problem solve without direct supervision or guidance
2+ years experience in writing, content creation, marketing or communication
2+ years experience with social media management (Instagram, Facebook, Meta Ads, etc.)
Proficiency in Google Suite
Ability to work effectively with different teams and individuals within the organization
A clean driving record and ability to pass a comprehensive federal background ch

Preferred Skills:

Bachelor's degree in applicable field (Writing, Marketing, or equivalent)
3+ years experience in writing, content creation, marketing or communication
Experience with Google Ads
Experience with event management, tabling, acting as an ambassador for an organization
Experience in photography, videography, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
Familiarity with Salesforce NPSP or equivalent CRM platform
