Overview
Blue Ridge Outdoor Education Center, part of Mikell Camp and Conference Center, in Toccoa, GA is looking for a competent Assistant Director to support the Director in running and growing outdoor environmental education programs. You will be working to enhance the community and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment. Successful candidates are well-versed in environmental education topics and residential program management and competent in assuming delegated duties. They are leaders and critical thinkers, ready to solve problems before they become obstacles. The goal is to help Blue Ridge Outdoor Education Center and Mikell Camp and Conference Center offer guests meaningful experiences.
Responsibilities
• Support the Director in coordinating and preparing for school groups
• Assist with outreach to promote programs
• Assist with updating and developing curricula and programs
• Lead school group programs and classes
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and facilitation of Outdoor Camps
• Assist in training seasonal instructors during staff training and mentoring throughout the season
• Assist with locating, applying for, and writing grants
• Fulfill the duties of the Director in director’s absence or as needed
• Fulfill duties as assigned by the Director

• $27,000/year
• Employer 401K contributions equivalent to 15% of salary begin after 1 year of employment

Qualifications:
• Proven experience in leadership and/or mentorship position(s)
• Experience in outdoor, environmental, and/or residential programing
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Outstanding communication and public speaking skills
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Aptitude in problem-solving
• Ability to be flexible
• Positive attitude and sense of humor
• Bachelor's degree
• Pass background check
