Overview

Bold Earth Adventures is seeking a full-time Staffing & School Group Manager to lead the recruitment, hiring, and mentoring of outstanding outdoor educators while overseeing and growing our customized school group programs. This role blends office-based coordination with approximately 6–8 weeks of field-based leadership annually, serving as a course director on key school group and summer programs.

The Staffing & School Group Manager is a creative, dynamic leader who thrives on building systems, strengthening partnerships, and setting a high standard for staff and program quality. This position works closely with the Director and programming team to ensure our seasonal leaders are exceptional and our school group programs are safe, mission-driven, and impactful.

LOCATION
The work location is Asheville, NC, with a hybrid schedule available outside peak season. Candidates must be located in, or willing to relocate to, the Asheville area. This position is not open for remote work.

Qualifications:

WFR certification
Extensive field leadership experience in outdoor adventure and school group programs
Demonstrated experience hiring, training, and mentoring field staff
Proven ability to serve as a course director or equivalent role in the field
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
A collaborative and professional presence with school clients, staff, and students
Creativity, adaptability, and a solutions-oriented mindset

Required Skills:

Ability to recruit, hire, and retain high-quality seasonal staff
Effective relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders (staff, schools, students)
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities in both field and office contexts
Comfortable managing multiple projects and shifting priorities
Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours when in the field
Ability to camp and lead programs for extended periods

Preferred Skills:

Experience designing and implementing staff training
Experience with designing new outdoor programs
Familiarity with school group sales or outreach
Experience with program budgeting and logistics planning
Familiarity with CRM and applicant tracking systems
