Overview
Ski patrolling at Breckenridge is a demanding and rewarding job that includes, but is certainly not limited to:
– Providing first aid and basic life support.
– Transporting injured guests.
– Maintaining ski area appearance and safety.
– Handling explosives and mitigating avalanche hazards.
– Petting avalanche dogs & eating ice cream sandwiches.
Qualifications:
Candidates must:
- Be an EXPERT skier (sorry, snowboarders) able to ski powder, moguls, trees, steeps, hardpack, sastrugi, coral reef, slush, rocks, and cat tracks.
- Have a good standing relationship with their alarm clock.
- Be able to work in a high alpine environment with poor weather conditions, low visibility and extreme cold for extended periods.
- Have low standards in coffee, burritos and ice cream.
- Work well in a team with the ability to follow and provide direction.
Required Skills:
- 21 years old before November 1, 2023.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Be an expert skier.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous ski patrol or ski resort experience.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher.
- Able to pass a motor vehicles record check.
- Fluency in a language other than English.
- You look good in red and own at least 5 pairs of ski socks.
