Overview
Camp Augusta is not your average summer camp. We seek high and low for folks who have a calling in life… to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and their own; to pursue a variety of adventures that feed body, mind, heart, and soul; to work hard and play hard (especially when they are one and the same). We are a 90-acre non-profit residential camp nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains of northern California specializing in teaching emotional intelligence, aerial silks, fire spinning, positive communication techniques, high ropes elements, intentional community living, the fine art of oatmeal fights, and oh-so-much more. Camp Augusta has 1- and 2-week overnight sessions with 90 children (ages 8-16) onsite at a time.
Counseling is our primary passion and intention at Camp Augusta. As a summer counselor, you will work closely with 5 campers, honing your epic skills in creativity, compassion, and wonder for life with the mission of fostering life-changing experiences. After 3.5 weeks of paid staff training, you will be equipped with oodles of tools and information about effective behavior guidance, how to live and work in a tight-knit community of 60 staff, and how to teach an incredible array of activities.
Pay, Dates & Benefits
Housing, meals, and numerous community Perks and Benefits are provided. Live in a cabin, yurt, or treehouse! Our meals are organic, locally-sourced and made fresh every day.
The pay for staff training & the main season is $5000, with hourly ($15/hr) and group (around $135/day) work opportunities available to work pre and post season. This work consists of assisting with family camps and school groups before staff training (April and May) and after the summer (August and September).
The depth of training and ongoing professional support you will receive as a Camp Augusta staff member (in the realms of education, personal development and communication, and activity skills) can offer far-reaching benefits for many other parts of your life, and was offered as multiple accredited courses (valued at $5,500 each).

About Camp Augusta
Working at Camp Augusta is unlike any other experience in the world. Each day is jam packed full of growth, passion, silliness, celebration, magic, deep connection, and wonder. Our small staff (65 total) are hired on wisdom and heart, and have the rare opportunity to bond deeply with other staff in a 3.5 week staff training prior to camp where we do and learn camp together. Staff also have the opportunity to challenge themselves by learning and teaching an astounding variety of activities, celebrating with campers as we test our own limits of what’s possible. We offer over 150 different activities, from blacksmithing to high zip lines to ancient weaponry and crazy canoeing, and welcome your creative ideas and skills to develop even more.
Are you up for the challenge? 🙂
