Overview
Youth Program Director
Camp Glen Brook is seeking an experienced educator and leader to plan, organize, and operate our school programs, and support the running of our Summer Camp. This is a full-time, year-round position.
General Responsibilities
Plan, direct, supervise, and provide school programs for children. Help to train, support, and manage staff for Summer Camp, Winter Camp, and School Programs. Ensure that programs are safe and consistent with the camp mission statement and values.
Specific responsibilities
Camp and School Programs:
Plan and direct school programs for children, and help to plan and direct summer programs.
Create and supervise schedules, procedures, and routines for these programs.
Offer consistent leadership and hospitality to all camp program attendees and staff.
Direct the day-to-day operation of the programs.
Supervise the evaluation and continuous improvement of all school programs.
Staff Management:
Help design and implement staff trainings
Create and implement a system to supervise, support, and evaluate school program staff.
Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the camp family.
Facilities and Equipment:
Help to maintain the High Ropes Course, wilderness trip equipment, waterfront equipment and all other camp equipment in sound working order.
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Facilities Director to ensure that all facilities used during programs are maintained in good working order
Maintain program supplies and equipment inventory and purchase as necessary within the budget.
Safety and Compliance:
Monitor safety and supervision procedures of students and program staff.
Monitor, and teach as needed, Camp Glen Brook’s Emergency Management Plan, including emergency procedures and staff preparedness.
Help ensure compliance with all governmental regulations, licensing and reporting; and maintain ACA accreditation.
Outreach and Development:
Support efforts in promotion of camp programs.
Limited travel for outreach, fundraising and camper recruitment as needed.
Glen Brook Team support:
Be an enthusiastic and supportive team member
Participate in interdepartmental collaborative work such as work parties and animal chore coverage
Participate in regularly scheduled Director and Staff Meetings and meetings with the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
3 years of teaching experience with a focus on outdoor and/or experiential education
Required Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, a consistent positive attitude, attention to detail, and a capacity for cooperative teamwork
Valid driver’s license with clean record
Ability to plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs
Desire and ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary camp team
Current or willingness to gain certification in CPR, Wilderness first –aid, high ropes instruction, and lifeguarding
Preferred Skills:
Preferred
Wilderness First Aid or First Responder certification
Musical and/or storytelling experience
Farm and garden experience
Experience and competence in camping, navigating, hiking, and canoeing

Camp Glen Brook is a year-round outdoor education facility. We are set apart by our small size, our home grown home cooked farm-to-table food, and our background in Waldorf Education. We serve school groups throughout the fall and spring, we run a Summer Camp, and we run a fall and spring Gap semester program.
