Overview

Camp Nor’wester is seeking a dynamic and experienced Ropes Director to lead our Ropes Team this summer! As the Ropes Director, you’ll be at the forefront of our challenge course and climbing wall operations, where we guide campers through high and low ropes elements, rock climbing adventures, and team-building games. With our two four-week long sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to watch campers grow and develop their skills as they come back to the departments multiple times!

Leading a team of 4 to 5 Ropes Instructors, you’ll supervise daily activities, ensuring each camper’s experience is both safe and unforgettable. Safety is our top priority, which is why the Ropes Team undergoes rigorous paid on-site training in equipment usage and group facilitation. As the Ropes Director, you’ll oversee equipment safety, manage daily logs and safety checks, schedule activities and staff, and, best of all, lead activities alongside campers.

As a department staff, this position also involves staffing outcamp overnights and potentially longer trips, contributing to a camper unit, and supervising campers during non-department activities including meals, evening activities, and nighttime coverage. As with all department staff at Nor’wester, the Ropes Director is a residential staff, assigned to live in a camper unit, in a tent shared with other staff members, and included unit supervision responsibilities.

Joining our Supervisory Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the success of our summer programs. If you’re ready for an adventure-packed summer, apply now to become our next Ropes Director at Camp Nor’wester!
