Backpacking Wilderness Summer Camp Counselor Positions Available.
Camp U, a non-profit wilderness summer camp for kids, ages 10-17 is looking for outdoor lovers who want to be Summer Camp Counselors. Come spend the summer in the beautiful Trinity Alps Wilderness of Northern California. Teach kids and teens wilderness skills, how to backpack, what it means to be part of a community and lots of fun activities like arts & crafts, archery, rock climbing, sports, boating, nature identification and more!
Camp U is committed to diversity. BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and multilingual folks are strongly encouraged to apply.
Counselors supervise and provide care for the children at camp 24 hours a day. They plan and lead activities, campfires and backpacking trips. Counselors engage their campers in cooking meals over an open fire, eating together, playing games, doing chores and building community in their campsite. Most counselors prepare for and lead campers on overnight backpacking trips in the surrounding wilderness.
Summer Dates: June 13th – August 11th
Salary: $4520 – $5000+ based on experience
Transportation and gear provided upon request. Wilderness First Aid & Lifeguarding courses available to hired staff at no cost.
Qualifications:
Counseling positions are available for those at least 19 years old. All staff must be comfortable living outdoors, there are no cabins. CPR/AED certification required before arriving at Camp in June.
Required Skills:
Must enjoy being outdoors and have experience working with kids.
