Chadwick International School is actively recruiting highly experienced, seasonal outdoor educators to instruct our grades 8 – 11 expedition courses this fall from August 20 to October 22, 2022. Instructors will lead overnight backpacking and inflatable flatwater and river kayaking expeditions in remote locations in South Korea.

This fall, we’ll be running our grade 8-11 Upper School backcountry expeditions which range from 5 to 9 days in length. Grade 8 is a backpacking and flat water inflatable kayaking. Grade 9 students are split into two groups, with half the students expeditioning on inflatable kayaks on Korea’s largest lake, and the other half backpacking in the mountains. In Grade 10, students complete the opposite expedition from which they participated in Grade 9. Grade 11 is a 9 day multi element expedition, which students backpack and river kayak.

Instructors are hired as Independent Contractors. Pay starts at $150 per non-student contact day (prep days), and $200 per day for student contact days (program day). Chadwick International pays all local taxes and dues to the Republic of Korea. It is the contractor’s responsibility to report taxable income to their home country.

Chadwick International also covers round-trip airfare (up to $1200), travel insurance, and housing while out of the field.

Chadwick School’s mission is to develop global citizens with keen minds, exemplary character, self-knowledge, and the ability to lead. Chadwick Schools have a clear imperative to honor its core values of Honesty, Respect, Fairness, Responsibility, Respect, and Compassion.

Chadwick International Outdoor Education (CIOE) supports the mission by using a progression of skills and experiences in the outdoors to facilitate learning and growth in three curricular priorities: Sense of Self, Sense of Place, and Outdoor Competence. The school believes participation in the program is vital to the development of the “whole” student and works to incorporate curriculum and experiences in OE back into the classroom.
