The Program Manager for Outdoor Education at Chadwick School supports the Director in overseeing and managing the 11th and 12th – grade course programs alongside the Director of the program. The Program Manager reports to the Director of Outdoor Education for Grade 7-12 programs. The Program Manager is a full-time temporary position starting immediately and ending June 22, 2021. This person will assist with the execution of the 12th-grade and 11th-grade courses this spring. The position will start out remote, with the expectation to be in-person starting April 17, 2021 – June 22, 2021. The 12th-grade course is a three-week-long backpacking expedition in the Southern Sierras followed by the 11th-grade course, a 6-day long expedition in the Southern Sierras. The position is a combination of remote work, on-campus work, and field-based work.
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
Current Wilderness First Responder and CPR Certifications; Wilderness EMT preferred
NOLS/ Outward Bound Instructor course, instructor training, or similar experience
Experience leading/managing students and instructors on expedition-style courses of more than 14 days in length.
Current Driver’s License and a clear driving record
Responsible for working with the Director to implement the outdoor education program serving 11th and 12th grade. This person should be detail-oriented, have the ability to work long days, carry heavy equipment, and support and mentor instructors.

Develop, organize and manage the transportation plan
assist with the OE Warehouse (gear and food)
assist with managing the logistics team
communicate and facilitate briefing days with the director
assist with administrative work
Experience and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the outdoor industry and implementing change preferred
Previous program management experience preferred and administrative work experience
Experience developing and facilitating various types of outdoor education programs

Chadwick School is a K-12 Independent School. We run an in-house 7-12 grade Outdoor Education program required of all students. We mainly run backpacking courses in the upper school.
