Overview
Clemson University’s Camp Bob Cooper is seeking a Coordinator to join our Shooting Sports Cam and rentals team for our Summer Season in 2025 & working in Rentals and Environmental Education in the Fall/Spring.
In the summer, we provide shooting sports and summer camp experiences for elementary and middle school aged students around the state. While in the Fall & Spring the position helps with hosting of rental groups and working with school groups coming to Environmental Education programs. Camp Bob Cooper is located in the Lowcountry of SC on a 110 acre peninsula on Lake Marion (SC’s largest lake). Our location provides a range of ecosystems in a lake setting and an hour from the coast in Charleston. Coordinators will manage staff that teach children in shotguns, rifles, archery, hunter safety, outdoor survival skills, teams course, camp wide activities and much more. We also work with various private and public groups that want a rental experience in a camp setting.
Principle Duties:
• Manage a staff of counselors (4-8 people)
• Build comradery and positive work environment for staff
• Have the ability to be a counselor and teach curriculum components during the summer and stay in the dorms as needed
• Lead staff and groups in daily program activities (wake-up, flagpole, meals, snack, and campfire).
• Be actively involved in all program activities, leading and participating in evening recreational and instructional times as scheduled.
• Assist with routine clean up and set up of program areas.
• Manage rental groups when needed.
• Provide facilitation and guidance on public and private rental groups
• Provide great customer service
Pay Scale:
Pay of $600/week plus housing, meals, and a sickness/accidental insurance plan.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Environmental Education, Natural Sciences, Parks & Recreation or related field preferred OR Experience in Environmental Ed Programs and or Camping Programs
• At least 2 seasons experience in camping preferred
Required Skills:
• Must have the patience, understanding, flexibility, and a lot of energy.
• Must demonstrate teaching skills and the ability to implement creative “hands on” teaching methods.
• Must be willing to sacrifice, adapt and work hard as part of a team pursuing an objective.
