Overview

Position Summary:
CCMI and Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (FDL) have partnered to support a crew dedicated to FDL resource management division projects. This project is funded through the National Fish and Wildlife foundation’s America the Beautiful Challenge 2022 and is currently funded for 7 months. Potential extensions are dependent upon grant funding continuation.

The Field Coordinator (FC) is integral to the AmeriCorps field program’s goal of accomplishing challenging conservation projects, as well as providing training, education, coordination, and leadership to ensure a positive and safe experience for regional field program participants. The Field Coordinator must have the ability to assist in personnel management, maintain equipment, and coordinate or provide training in technical and personal development skills. The FDL ICC FC will additionally be responsible for project coordination and communication between FDL resource managers, CCMI, and the FDL ICC crew members.

Relationships: The FDL ICC Field Coordinator reports directly to the North District Manager and works closely with FDL Resource Management staff.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work with crews in the field to provide additional knowledge and training for specific projects.
• Coordinate with staff, partners, and crews on project details to ensure crews are properly equipped.
• Regularly communicate weekly project details between FDL resource managers, FDL ICC crew members and CCMI North District manager to ensure project details are in order.
• Ensure shop spaces are properly equipped and organized for safe and efficient use.
• Coordinating with North district staff to provide equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) for FDL ICC members.
• Assist crew leaders in managing crew dynamics and act as the crew leader if/when needed.
• Coordinate with CCMI district staff and FDL staff to plan and lead trainings for new members in equipment use, and resource management techniques.
• Conduct site safety audits to ensure crews are working safely and following Corps Policy.
• Attend and participate in CCMI North District and organizational meetings to improve programming.
• Review work accomplishment forms to ensure accuracy in reporting.
• Assistance with grant writing and application process.
• Support with planning for potential future crews based at FDL and other areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Supervisory and programming experience (preferably with young adults/adults) and ability to problem solve and respond competently to situations associated with managing young adults.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal personnel management and external outreach.
• Initiative to act independently with minimal supervision and ability to multi-task and be flexible with responsibilities.
