Overview
We’re hiring both full and part time Apprentice, Assistant, and Lead Rock Climbing Instructors to facilitate rock climbing trips, courses, and camps during the 2024 season. Our season runs approximately late April through mid-October, thought start and end times can be flexible.
ROLES
Facilitate our variety of climbing trips, courses, and camps in accordance with your experience and training, including:
– Client outfitting and orientation
– Traditional anchor setting
– Discuss, learn, develop client goals through tailored curriculum under the direction of the Lead instructor
– Belay instruction and supervision, or technical instruction as per course
– Proactively identify, communicate, and manage risks
– Maintain personal and company equipment
– Learn local terrain and improve technical and movement skills in personal time
POSITIONS
We have three instructor classes based on experience and credentials. Both part and full time positions are available in all classes for the 2024 season. Please visit our website to learn more about each class.
– Apprentice Instructor – Proficient top-rope belayer. Comfortable in an outdoor rock climbing environment.
– Assistant Instructor – Can build traditional climbing anchors. WFR & AMGA SPI course preferred, but not required.
– Lead Instructor – Previous outdoor climbing instruction experience. WFR & AMGA SPI certifications
Qualifications:
Wilderness First Responder (preferred, required for Lead instructors)
AMGA Single Pitch Instructor (preferred, required for Lead instructors)
Required Skills:
Competent top-rope belayer
Comfortable in an outdoor rock climbing environment
Effective, thoughtful communicator
Proactive risk manager
Preferred Skills:
Previous outdoor rock climbing instruction, or other instructional experience
