Outdoor Adventure Instructors work closely with the Assistant Director and Logistics Coordinator to plan and lead classes, Added Adventures, or Hante Adventures Treks. We offer adventures for campers of all ages and skill levels. Participants learn a variety of technical skills including: leave no trace, fire building, tarp building, knots, backcountry cooking, and backpacking! Instructors are responsible for organizing and preparing their trips, including: planning the menu and packing the food, ensuring the appropriate gear is packed and accounted for, working with the health hut staff to ensure your med kit is stocked and you have the correct paperwork, and most importantly facilitating a fun and rewarding trip for participants! Wilderness Staff must enjoy living and working in the outdoors and have a passion for inspiring and mentoring children.
Required Qualifications: Minimum age of 18 years with one full year out of high school. CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification or higher (We are offering a Wilderness First Aid course May 22-23). Training, experience, or interest with camping and backpacking skills. Hante Adventures Trip Leaders must have their Wilderness First Responder Certification.
Preferred Qualifications: We value experience in areas including Leave No Trace, lifeguarding, natural and environmental science, paddling, and climbing

Eagle’s Nest Camp is a coed camp over 90 years old, located in the lush mountains of Western North Carolina. Eagle’s Nest Camp provides a joyful, nurturing community where campers finishing kindergarten - 11th grade are treated with respect and compassion. Campers have the opportunity to participate in 1-3 week long sessions which emphasize nature, arts, and community living. Our mission is experiential education for young people, promoting the natural world and the betterment of human character.
