Overview
The Position
The Park District is currently recruiting for a Recreation Assistant in the Interpretive and Recreation Services Unit of the Operations Division . This on-site position will be headquartered in Richmond, CA. The Recreation Assistant will be responsible for planning and implementing a variety of outdoor recreation activities for youth, special groups, community partners and the public. The Recreation Assistant will lead programs in one or more of the following categories: a) Day camps and overnight camping programs, b) Kayaking, canoeing, biking, fishing, backpacking, and other outdoor recreation programs, and c) Development and staffing of special events. The hiring pools established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and additional vacancies that may occur during the one-year life of the hiring pools.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade;
AND
Experience: One year of experience planning or delivering recreational activities in a lead or supervisory capacity;
OR
Substitution: Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of college level course work in a relat
