Job Title: School-To Apply: PleasBased Education Coordinator

Reports To: Program Manager

Location: ELK Office, 12680 Albrook Dr. Denver, CO 80239

Status: Full-time, exempt

Compensation: This is a full-time position with a salary of $55,000 plus benefits described below.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, Education, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Zoology, Wildlife/Aquatic Biology, Nature Resource Management, or equivalent science-based degree or candidates with 2-3 years equivalent programmatic job experience are encouraged to apply.

Required Skills:

2-3 years of environmental or science education and/or related experience or training
Experience building genuine relationships with racially diverse, multicultural, youth and families.
Previous work experience working with youth ages 5-14 years old.
Experience delivering informal or formal education programs through in-school, after-school, environmental education, or summer camp programs.
Experience developing curriculum.
Strong commitment to the values of Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Preferred Skills:

Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Experience instructing outdoor recreation in urban and/or wilderness settings.
Understanding and experience with creating curriculum in alignment with state academic standards.
Interest in outdoor education programs, field-based environmental projects, and camping.
The ability to be flexible, adaptable, to learn quickly, and function effectively in fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
Experience with trauma-informed educational practices, mental health first aid.

About ELK

Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK) is an inclusive non-profit organization that develops inspired and responsible leaders through science education and outdoor experiences for underserved, urban youth ages 5-25. ELK Inspires youth to have high expectations of themselves by exposing them to the outdoors and engaging them in service learning projects. For many of the youth ELK serves, it’s their first experience with the outdoors. ELK Educates youth through science and environmental education embedded in all programs and activities to further students’ understanding and attitudes toward science, the outdoors, their communities, college, and careers. ELK transforms youth by endowing them with increased academic skills, civic and community leadership, environmental stewardship, and employment opportunities.
