The Adventure Trip Logistics Coordinator collaboratively supervises the Adventure Trips program and assists with the departure, return and safety of all off-site overnight trips. This position is in charge of managing assigned trip leaders and trip center assistants as well as ensuring the quality of the program and completing logistical components required in the program. Mentoring trip leaders in their day-to-day jobs as staff encounter difficult or unique situations and regular staff and camper check-ins are essentials parts of the job. Staff and camper problems and successes will filter through the Trip Logistics Coordinator to the Adventure Director. The Trip Logistics Coordinator keeps the director informed of all pertinent issues and successes related to the program, and communicates with parents as needed. The Trip Logistics Coordinator aids and assists the department in times of emergency, crisis and evacuations. The Trips Logistic Coordinator will brief their assigned trips before they leave, be responsible for being available to receive communication from trips that are off site, and debrief their trips when they return. This position also directly oversees the food room or gear room. They are responsible for creating a successful pack out system for overnight trips, ordering food or gear when needed, packing food or gear for overnight trips, and keeping everything in a neat and orderly condition. The Trip Logistics Coordinator is responsible for keeping the Trip Center in outstanding running condition.
-Must be 21 years of age or older by June 1, 2021
-Valid US driver’s license and ability to drive Frost Valley vehicles, including 12 passenger mini-buses
-Minimum Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification required.
-Experience supervising staff leading overnight, outdoor programming.
-Experience working with youth and teens ages 9-17 in an outdoor setting, or a strong desire to gain experience in such an environment
-Experience with food or gear pack out systems or strong desire to gain experience in such an environment
-Able to hike 8-10 miles in rugged, uneven terrain per day with a pack weight one third of one’s body weight. In good physical health overall is a must.
-Strong sense of risk management practices and procedures and excellent decision making
-Ability to work long hours, including late night or early morning programs under high stress.
-Ability to be flexible to sudden changes in schedule, staff and camp
-Possess strong leadership, management, organization, communication and group facilitation skills. Previous supervisory experience desired
-Be able to multi-task and handle pressure well
-Present a strong, positive model for kids and fellow staff members
-Possess excellent communication and organizational skills
-Work well with a team of others
