Overview

The Expedition Design Manager supports the youth, parent/guardian, and volunteer expedition experience from start to finish. As the main point of contact for these stakeholders, the ability to communicate and collaborate skillfully is essential. This position is responsible for designing the educational aspects of each expedition by collaborating with groups, volunteers, and partner organizations to ensure each experience has the greatest impact for participants. Each expedition is customized to the needs of the group; the ability to manage constantly changing details is very important.

The Expedition Design Manager is responsible for on-call duties during the expedition season, is an integral part of the Expeditions Team, and works closely with the Expedition Wellness Manager.

Expedition Management (90% of position)
Manage and support day-to-day communication with youth, parents/guardians, and volunteers
Develop custom expedition curriculum aligned with the goals of all stakeholders
Refine curricula and support implementation before, during, and after the expeditions
Maintain communication materials (expedition descriptions, packing lists, website content, etc.) to support information sharing and expedition preparation
Collaborate with community experts to skillfully integrate their knowledge and projects to enhance expedition quality
Manage programmatic resources for on-expedition learning & fun
Work alongside the Expedition Team to evaluate, provide, and synthesize expedition feedback
Participate in on-call duties as assigned

Administration/Fundraising (10% of position)
Manage incoming office visitors and phone calls
Participate in fundraising efforts, as needed
Support cross-organizational initiatives, as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and/or lived experience demonstrating ability to learn, think critically, and work well with others of varying backgrounds
Minimum of one year experience teaching, leading, and/or instructing groups of youth
Experience designing curriculum for a variety of learning abilities and ages
Pass a pre-employment background and drug test
Clean driving record
Current Wilderness First Responder, CPR, and EPI Auto-Injector Certifications
Comfortable using common office equipment
