Overview
Expedition Leaders work as a team of three to lead 12 high school campers on adventures on the North Carolina Outer Banks, using the same philosophy of respect, discovery and environmental awareness we teach at our summer camp. Activities include sea kayaking, leadership education, and outdoor skills. You will be responsible for facilitating an enriching and challenging experience, operating within the constraints of our permit requirements, mitigating and responding to safety concerns, and carrying out the day to day functions necessary for group cohesion.
This is for a 2-week trip with 2 weeks of paid training and . Additional work may be possible to extend the season. Staff training begins June 6.
Qualifications:
Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder, Lifeguard
Required Skills:
Clean driving record (must be able to drive 15 passenger van and/or support vehicle with trailer in tow), passionate about teaching/leading teenagers, detail oriented and able to practice sound decision making under potentially stressful or tiring situations.
Preferred Skills:
A background in natural resources or environmental education, former trip lead experience, sea kayaking experience
