Overview

The High Mountain Institute is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator, a .5 FTE, hourly, non-exempt, administrative position. The ideal job candidate would be interested in developing skills in the areas of human resources and executive support. This position will work with multiple departments across the organization and reports to the Director of Finance & Operations.
Position Responsibilities:

HR Duties
– Monitor HR compliance across all departments at HMI.
– Serve as the primary point of contact in the hiring process for candidates, organize & distribute application materials to hiring committee chairs, follow up with candidates, schedule interviews, manage on-campus logistics for finalists.
– Manage all employee onboarding including: setup in payroll system, background checks, IT setup, enrollment in eligible benefit programs, etc.
– Manage employee relations with relevant supervisors. Coordinate termination process for all departing employees including termination of payroll and benefits.
– Main point of contact for all on-campus housing management including housing agreements, updates to housing guidelines, deposits, walk-throughs, issue response, etc.
– Manage all workers comp and unemployment claims.
– Participate in benefits training, professional development, etc.
– Assist Director of Finance with other HR related tasks as needed, including backup for running payroll

Additional Job Responsibilities
– Assist Development with projects and mailings 2-4 times per year.
– Assist Administrative Manager with mailings and tasks as needed.
– Help coordinate and buy supplies for employee and family events throughout the year, including Family Weekends, Reunions, Board Meetings, and other staff events.
– Additional duties as assigned.

Start Date: September 2022

Position Pay & Benefits:
– $18-21/hour DOE
– Approx. 15-20 hours per week

Required Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous experience in related field
- Computer Skills (Quickbooks, MS Word, MS Excel, Google Suite, Windows)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Preferred Skills:

BA or higher
3-5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of Quickbooks Desktop
Strong written and oral communication skills
Time management skills; ability to effectively prioritize and organize tasks
Understanding of HMI’s mission
