Kaf Adventures is seeking full-time, part-time and on-call instructors for this coming season. We have full/part-time work available on Wy’east (Mt. Hood) during April-June, and full/part-time work available in the Cascades through the end of the summer. For qualified guides, there will be opportunity to work year round, with AIARE instruction and ski guiding in the winter months.
Kaf Adventures is a small instruction oriented outdoor adventure company with a growing community of guests and guides. We have many guests return for trip after trip in all disciplines of mountain-craft. You will find that our staff is generally considered “family”, and very welcoming. Both admin and staff are goal oriented and focused on personal growth and development. Working for Kaf is rewarding, full of passion, has a small company family vibe, and is a supportive environment to grow professionally. The Kaf family cares about its employees and tries its very best to support them with training, a livable wage, and benefits.
Kaf Adventures specifically works in glaciated environments, alpine terrain, and spends a considerable amount of time rock climbing in a single pitch and multi-pitch setting. We spend time on Mt. Baker, the North Cascades National Park, climbing crags and areas near Seattle, Mt. Hood, and Smith Rock State Park. Kaf Adventures also has permits to climb in Indian Creek and Red Rock National Conservation Area. We have also have a full winter season with ice climbing, backcountry skiing, and avalanche education.
Pay is competitive in the industry, and based on experience and qualifications. Attached, you will find a wage information sheet. A typical wage starts at $205 and our scale tops out at $405 per day + travel expense.
Full-time guides will work about 12 days/month from April to September. For committing to Kaf as a full time guide, you will get a uniform, paid staff training, 60 days of guaranteed pay, paid mentorship, and training opportunities with a $500 stipend.
Part time committed guide will work about 6 days per month from April to September. Part time instructors will receive 1 garment, 30 days of guaranteed pay, paid mentorship, and training opportunities.
On-call positions are just that, jumping on a list of on-call guides that can be reached for occasional work. On-call positions work best for guides who want to pick up different kinds of work that supplement their current guiding schedule. On-call guides have no commitment to Kaf. They are offered mentorship and training opportunities.
**Note that this season we will pro-rate the commitment to start as soon as the employment starts**
Ideal candidates will have an SPI certification, a WFR, and have taken the base level AMGA training in the terrain they wish to work (ASC, AGC, RGC, SGC).
