Overview
We are looking for an individual to oversee the rock climbing program and instruct rock climbing to youth in Keystone Science School’s summer programs. Keystone Science School offers rock climbing with our Adventure Program, Discovery Camp, and Pathfinder Camp. The unique locations for our Adventures cater well to place-based environmental education as students explore beautiful landscapes and ecosystems. We believe that students can utilize lessons learned on a climbing program in their future including: relationships with friends, communication skills, challenges, problem solving, with projects at school, and future work opportunities.
The Rock Climbing Lead oversees the rock climbing program which includes leading training, coaching staff with risk management, and overseeing all logistics. The Rock Climbing Lead will also take on responsibilities of a Rock Climbing Instructor. Rock Climbing Instructors are setting up, cleaning, and facilitating educational rock climbs experiences for youth during field-based climbing programs. Rock Climbing Instructors are familiar with the daily schedule, risk management practices, emergency action plans, and the overall energy of KSS Climbing programs. They are responsible for guiding students in their personal growth and daily living skills.
Keystone Science School invites candidates to apply who are energetic, enthusiastic, smart, hard-working, and fun. We encourage women and people of color to apply. Our tagline, Science. Adventure. Fun! Summarizes what we seek in our employees: passionate about our work, willing to seek adventure and take risks to improve KSS, and able to laugh along the way.
