Overview
Working with youth ages 9 to 19, Kroka provides unique wilderness programs centered around the cultivation of consciousness and altruistic will. The container of multi-day expeditions traveling through wild places is one that pushes us as human beings to experience vulnerability and reliance on community (both human and non-human). In return, we are rewarded with humility, compassion, elation, a sense of reverence for the natural world, and a deep feeling of belonging. Our Wilderness Leaders will facilitate wilderness expeditions and farm-based programs for highly motivated students ages 9-19 – opening the magic of nature! Contract runs from March 31, 2025 thru October 31, 2025.
Qualifications:
Love of teaching & mentoring children (9-19) with documented and referenced previous teaching experience.
Previous wilderness expedition experience in remote environments, or an excitement to learn!
Commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion.
Professional certifications and education College degree and/or equivalent life experience, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Certification.
Commitment to ecologically conscious living and simplified personal needs.
Required Skills:
Adventure sports expertise such as whitewater paddling, rock climbing, caving, mountaineering, back-country skiing, mountain biking, surfing or another adventure sport with similar set of skills.
Preferred Skills:
Personal artistic skills: strong singing voice, handwork skills, visual and/or performing arts experience.
International/cultural diversity: experience living, working, and traveling in other countries and cultures.
Waldorf Training: experience and/or training for working with Waldorf schools and schoolchildren
Additional Certifications: AMGA SPI, ACA Swiftwater Rescue, Wilderness EMT, etc.
