Under guidance/supervision from the Executive Director, the Site Director is responsible for our Yosemite Programs. With the support of a year-round administrative team, the Site Director will manage our Summer Camp & Guide Service Programs while supervising a large seasonal staff of approximately 40 Outdoor Educators and Interns. The Site Director is responsible for operations and logistics, human resources, Commercial Use Authorizations (CUA) and Special Use Permits (SUP), risk management, transportation management, reporting and annual reviews of policies and procedures, and collaborating on client emails/calls with our Adventure Consultant. The Site Director implements best practices in compliance with, state, local and federal laws, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
-Leads Yosemite staff at Lasting Adventures including: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, supervising, supporting, disciplining, and evaluating staff.
-Supervises the Program Manager(s), Gear/Intern Manager, Marketing Manager, and Adventure Consultant under the Executive Director.
-Schedules dates for regular backpacking and overnight trips, assigns staff to trips, and works with the Administrative Team to ensure efficient Administrative staffing.
-Responsible for safety and risk management protocols training, including transportation, drug/alcohol policies, and other standard operating procedures.
-Manages Commercial and Wilderness Permitting within Yosemite National Park, including monthly and annual reporting of use and statistics, and assists with reporting and permitting in other National Parks.
-Manages day-to-day operations for our Yosemite location.
-Manages Lasting Adventure’s Human Resources system, legal compliance with labor laws, and monthly payroll.
-With the Adventure Consultant, supports email and phone communications between campers, parents, clients, and staff to address concerns while maintaining privacy and confidentiality.
-Maintains and reviews records and reports, assesses and evaluates all programs, completes annual evaluations, yearly updates, and recommendations for future operations. Disposes of outdated records according to law.
-Serves critical roles in crisis response and evacuation procedures.
-Guide day hikes, summer camps, and backpacking trips as required.
-Participates in daily, weekly, monthly and annual team, department and company meetings, taking a leadership role as required.
-Manages automated computer systems in GMail, Google Sheets, and Zapier, for paperwork filing, hiring systems, employee onboarding, mailing lists, and other tasks.
-Interacts with National Park Service and other Government officials. Assists the Executive Director with legal and insurance issues.
-Basic buildings and grounds repairs at our guide house property, or managing a repair or maintenance service.
-Works with the company bookkeeper to reconcile company books.
