About Life Expanding Adventure Programs (LEAP)

LEAP is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon and operating multi-day whitewater programs in Oregon and Idaho. Our mission is to create empowering opportunities for those facing adversity and trauma by providing wilderness programs. Our summer programs are multi-day whitewater river trips on the Salmon River in Idaho and the Deschutes River in Oregon. We offer reflective programming, community building, and opportunities for connection for individuals who often have felt isolated within their circumstances. All of our programs are no cost to our participants.

We operate primarily as an inflatable kayak (IK) program – where each person is paddling themselves down the river. The majority of our participants paddle themselves down the river in IKs with thorough instruction from our guiding and leadership staff. We also offer a paddle raft option for those who operate best sharing the challenges of the river as a team and/or to accommodate the needs of individuals.
