McCarthy River Tours is looking for qualified Single and Multi Day Rafting Guides.

We are looking for people that are dedicated to the summer work experience and know how to balance work and play. While we are primarily a rafting business, also offer Glacier Hikes and other outdoor experiences. We are a close nit crew and look for team members that are willing to do a wide variety of tasks including rafting, kayaking SUP boarding, Glacier Hikes, Office Shifts, Gear Maintenance and Work Projects. Our preferred candidate has experience in leadership, organization, superb customer service & is self motivated. While we all love to have fun during the hot summer days, employees who know how to keep on task and be organized with varying supervision succeed most with us.

Free on-site housing is available at our Kennicott River Campus. Staff lives in framed wall tents. There is a “Guide Hut” that functions as both the staff kitchen and crew hang out area. Verizon is the only that works reliably in McCarthy, both voice and data is available. We have a phone available for outgoing calls and internet is supplied in town at our office.

About McCarthy River Tours

Founded in 2010, McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters offers small group size River Rafting Trips from 4 hours to 14+ days through Class II to Class V whitewater, Glacial Lake Stand Up Paddleboard/Kayak Tours & Day Glacier Hikes on the Root & Kennicott Glaciers as well as bicycle, crampon and kayak/SUP rentals. We emphasize the guest experience by focusing on Safety, High Quality, Authenticity & Exceptional Customer Service.

Enjoying the rivers of Wrangell St Elias National Park (WSENP) & Alaska is our primary focus. We are proudly the first Outfitter in WSENP to offer drysuits to our guests, as well as helmets, paddles and High Float Type 5 PFD’s. All Employees are expected to complete a Swift-water Rescue Course, MRTO Guide Training and hold certifications in CPR and advanced first aid.

Our Clientele consists primarily of Independent Travelers and Small Group Van Tour Affiliates with the occasional large group tour and Cruise

Our employment season runs from May 10 to September 15.
