The Slope Maintenance Supervisor is a winter-seasonal position that leads the team in overseeing the winter staff and operations of the Slope Maintenance Department. This department is responsible for the maintenance of the slopes, base area and parking lots, and assisting other departments with heavy equipment and manual labor needs.

The Slope Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Be an effective leader within the guidelines of department and company policies, procedures and values, in fulfillment of Monarch’s mission statement to “provide our guests with a quality, personalized mountain experience.”
Assist as needed with all forms, tracking, verifications and necessary documenting are executed and accurately completed in a timely manner. This includes, though not limited to requests, training, payroll, time-keeping, fiscal responsibilities, disciplinary actions…etc.
Assist the Senior Director of Base Operations in the hiring of department A-Team employees for the department.
Assist with scheduling department staff for efficient coverage of department functions. Adjust to actual requirements, covering staff positions as necessary.
Assist with initial and ongoing training of departmental staff in a positive and non-condescending manner.
Provide timely employee feedback to the Senior Director and contribute to producing qualitative performance reviews of department A-Team staff.
Be aware of and assist in staying within budgetary constraints; offer input for next season’s budget proposal.
Offer input for departmental capital requests.
Work in conjunction with other departments as part of the Monarch team.
Assist in the development and maintenance of training materials, manuals, checklists and other documents necessary for the success of the department.
Prepare and assist in the oversight of department personnel in the event of an emergency, as instructed by your supervisor.
Provide professional solutions and courteous assistance in problem solving for both guests and employees.
Assist in monitoring and maintaining the inventory and condition of department supplies, properties and facilities.
Assist the Senior Director in overseeing Slope Maintenance personnel and department operations, ensuring nightly maintenance of on-mountain snow surface conditions, snow removal, movement and area sanding, and the completion of requested projects as per priorities.

Qualifications:

Colorado Driver’s License and good, company insurable driving record required.
Some supervisory experience preferred.
High School diploma or GED required; a college degree in recreation, administration or related field preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age.

Required Skills:

Experience operating a snowcat, winch cat/roller, heavy equipment and related machinery required.
Requires the ability to work any day of the week, Saturday through Friday and holidays, and overtime if necessary, as scheduled and agreed upon with your supervisor.
Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), and with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, strong winds, rain and intense sun.
