Overview

MBT is seeking a full-time, seasonal Trails Director to join our team and lead our professional trail crew for the 2024 season, May through the beginning of October. The Trails Director role is a majority field based position with an administrative component and reports directly to the executive director. The MBT trail crew works independently and collaboratively with local land management agencies and organizational partners to realize our mission and implement the strategic objectives of the trails program. The Trails Director acts as a liaison between the organization, project partners, and volunteer trail stewards. They are expected to maintain the high standards of work and foster the positive relationships with partnering agencies and the greater community.

Job Objective: Safely manage trail crew and volunteer operations, execute sustainable trail maintenance, design & building techniques, and assist the executive director in administrative tasks to ultimately improve trail resilience, user experiences, trail culture and MTB resources within the Teton Region

Qualifications:

● 2+ years of trail building field experience
● Current First Aid & CPR Certification
● Valid Driver’s License w/ reliable transport & Minimum age of 18 years old

Required Skills:

● Ability to ride a mountain bike with heavy loads (25+ lbs) for long distances on trails
● Knowledge and intimacy of trails through recreational use
● Motivated, hard-working and safety-oriented with a high attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

● Knowledge of sustainable, modern trail construction, maintenance and design practices and techniques
● Ability to work well independently, with others, follow instructions and delegate tasks
● Intermediate to advanced mountain bike experience
● Experienced with and around chainsaws, power tools and heavy machinery
