Nature’s Classroom Atop Lookout Mountain, an ACA and AEE accredited outdoor education program, is currently accepting applications for the Spring 2022 Semester (mid Feb-late May). Teachers (4-year college degree preferred) work mostly with 3rd-7th grade student groups leading educational hikes, teaching hands-on classes, and facilitating team building activities. Other activities include: archery, canoeing, climbing tower, and the high ropes course.

Staff contracts are by academic semester (spring/fall) and there is very little weekend work required. First semester Teachers start at $300/wk. In addition to salary, staff receive room and board, including: a private bedroom, meals, paid training, and use of washer/dryer. Other benefits include a location near excellent hiking, caving, climbing, mountain biking, hiking, whitewater paddling, and multiple state and national parks.

Teachers must be at least 21 years old. Teachers must have a bachelor's degree (in any subject).

Teaching certification/license is not required, but applicants with advanced degrees and/or teaching certification/license (from any state) do start at a higher rate of pay.

Required Skills:

Good communication , adaptability, time management, comfortable hiking 1-3 miles daily, punctuality, ability to work on a team and individually

Preferred Skills:

Experience with children, ability to work in all outdoor conditions, personable, leadership, public speaking, teaching/instructing experience, outdoor skills, flora/fauna identification
