OARS, one of the most respected outfitters in adventure travel, is seeking a Base Operations Manager for the Grants Pass, Oregon operation. The Oregon Base Operations Manager works in coordination with the Oregon River Operations Manager to oversee the orderly operation of all trips originating from the Oregon operation, while maintaining the highest standards for safe trips and guest satisfaction. The targeted focus of the Base Operations manager is operations that occur at the base and off-river. The Base Operations Manager and River Operations Manager work in cooperation to make up the Oregon Regional Management Team. As members of the management team, they are responsible for maintaining effective communication between upper management, and the Angels Camp office in general, and the direct supervision of guides and other operational staff.
The Base Operations Manager reports to the OARS President and will work primarily on-site at the Grants Pass office and warehouse. The Base Operations Manager, with support from the River Operations manager, is the direct supervisor for supporting drivers, food packers, warehouse staff and office staff overseeing their hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluation. The Base Operations Manager will support the River Operations Manager with the direct supervision of guides. The Base Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing maintenance and management of the office and all tasks therein, warehouse facilities and all basic property management.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace and ability to navigate reservations system
Self-starter who can prioritize and organize tasks to meet deadlines based on trip schedule, staff needs, departmental needs and seasonal schedule
Strong experience managing operations and logistics with critical attention to detail and exceptional communication skills
Capability for strategic decision-making
Ability to drive company culture prioritizing justice, equality, diversity and inclusion
Ability to drive company trucks and trailers, Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement a plus
