The Omaha Outward Bound School (OOBS) Program Coordinator/Course Director is responsible for the direct oversight of the student program days operating at the Hitchcock High Ropes challenge course and Hitchcock indoor climbing wall located on the NorthStar campus at 4242 N 49th Ave. The position reports to the Program Manager.
This position is a managerial position that supports the program team through leadership in instruction and training, organization, and implementation of high-quality programs to all participants. The position is responsible for overseeing the safety, quality, and educational effectiveness of all programs, which includes supervising, evaluating staff, and managing technical sites. Additionally, they will coordinate prep for the program team, manage student enrollment and paperwork and complete data entry after each program. This position is seasonal FT from March 15th – November 15th, 2021 (Dates are flexible).
2-3 years experience in the outdoor education/experiential learning field or any similar combination of education and experience.
Certified in Wilderness First Aid or above.
Preference for those with a documented portfolio of 200 or more Challenge Course hours (program experience)
Must be 21 years or older.
Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.
Ability to carry, lift and move a minimum of 40 pounds.
Able to comfortably work at heights of 30- 40 feet.
Deep understanding of social justice issues, experience and commitment to working with under-resourced students required.
Strong organizational skills with coordinating programs of 10-40 participants.
Knowledgeable on ACCT standards.
Demonstrate ability to design day program facilitation and technical trainings for new and returning staff.
Ability to demonstrate, train and coach others on aerial rescues.
