Overview

Seasonal full-time position with our Environmental Leadership Program. Our program consists of teaching and facilitating experiences that focus on 21st century skills, leadership development, personal growth, natural sciences, and outdoor skills. Field instructors will be working closely together in a supportive environment to provide Outdoor Education Programs geared primarily toward 6th-8th graders, however the age range is open due to day use groups and conferences open to many ages. As an instructor you are not required to stay in cabins with the children. The program focuses on instructing students in hands on classes which cover subjects such as freshwater/wildlife ecology, orienteering, nature discovery hikes, kayak/canoeing, archery, and our High and Low Element Ropes Course to name a few. This is an entry level position and training will be provided for each class, as well as ropes course, first aid/CPR, and lifeguard certification.
*As a field instructor you will typically have morning, afternoon, and occasional evening classes. Facilitate our challenge course activities for various groups and process and discuss team building skills during possible weekend groups.
*On-site housing(laundry,WiFi) provided as well as certain meals in our dining hall while working. Equipment and facilities open to use when not working unless reserved.

Qualifications:

*Preferred candidates should have a bachelor's degree, or be in the process of receiving a degree, but not required.
*Must be 18 years of age to apply.
* Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work non-traditional hours.
* Experience working with children in traditional and non-traditional setting.
* Willing to work outdoors.

Required Skills:

* Able to lift 50 lbs
* Constructive communication
* Maturity to work with: live animals, heights, human emotions.
* Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently.
