Everyday at the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center our team of guides take clients on amazing adventures in the Arkansas River Valley. Through this internship you will learn to capture these experiences on film and share the videos over a social media campaign. RMOC partners with Arkansas Valley Digital Imaging, the valley’s commercial rafting photo company, for this internship.
Dates: May 20 – August 15.
Schedule: Five days a week, Wednesday – Sunday (Wednesday/Thursday at AVDI). Approximately 8am – 5pm. 3 days at RMOC and 2 days at AVDI. Student will have opportunities to work on days off. These days will be compensated at a rate of $80/day at RMOC, and $10.25/hour at AVDI.
Objectives: Learn technical skills associated with capturing outdoor adventures on film. Student will gather a portfolio of stunning images from a variety of outdoor activities in the Arkansas River Valley. Student will create a series of short videos for the RMOC Adventure Pass and other company promotion.
Opportunities: RMOC will offer an education in outdoor activities, including: kayaking, rafting, stand-up paddling, rock climbing and mountain biking. AVDI will offer technical training in gathering high-quality images in an outdoor, river setting and remotely transmitting files to home base.
Compensation and Expectations:
–Free camping allowed at RMOC with access to bathrooms, potable water, electricity, and Wi-Fi.
–$75/week food stipend. Half from AVDI and half from RMOC. Paid at the end of month.
–Access to pro forms through RMOC
–Free enrollment in Raft Guide Training, ACA Kayak Instructor Certification, or ACA SUP Instructor Course (dates available at rmoc.com). Intern will pay the course fee upfront and then be reimbursed upon successful completion of the internship.
–RMOC will purchase waterproof boxes to transport imaging equipment. This will become the property of intern. Intern will provide his or her own camera and editing equipment for use at RMOC portion of internship.
–Note that all media materials gathered on RMOC trips will be shared property of RMOC and intern.
–AVDI will provide all imaging equipment and protective cases for the AVDI portion of internship. AVDI retains ownership and copyright of all images captured at AVDI. The intern may utilize images for portfolio purposes.
–Eligible for hire at either company after internship completion.
Strong background in digital photography skills or course of study in media arts preferred.
