Lookout Pass is looking for someone who is passionate about the outdoor recreation and tourism industry to join our bike rental operation as Assistant Rental Manager. We maintain a 500 + bicycle fleet, all of which are used for riding the scenic Route of the Hiawatha (www.ridethehiawatha.com).
The Route of the Hiawatha has been named the “Crown Jewel ” of the rails to trail system, traversing 15 miles through the heart of the Bitterroot Mountains on the Montana/ Idaho border. What makes this trail so unique is that it winds over stories-high train trestles and through miles of unique tunnels. The longest tunnel is 1.66 miles long!
The Assistant Manager will help oversee daily operations of bike rentals. This includes sizing and issuing helmets and bikes to guests, transporting bikes with a truck and trailer, navigating customer concerns and questions, fixing impromptu bike malfunctions, working on bikes in the bike repair shop, keeping coworkers on task, and many other tasks as they present themselves.
The ideal candidate is passionate about starting a career in the outdoor industry. Having 1-2 years of professional outdoor recreation experience. Having previous professional experience in the ski and/or bike industry is valuable but not mandatory. The Assistant Manager position is full time summer seasonal with the opportunity to become full time year round with the winter ski season for a qualified and passionate candidate.

"THE CROWN JEWEL" OF RAIL-TO-TRAIL ADVENTURES Route of the Hiawatha mountain bike or hike trail is 15 miles long with 10 train tunnels and 7 sky-high trestles. The ride starts with a trip through the 1.661 mile long St. Paul Pass Tunnel, also known as the Taft Tunnel. It is a highlight of the trail that follows the crest of the Bitterroot Mountains near Lookout Pass Ski Area. The best part is.... it is mostly downhill with shuttle buses available to transport you and your bike back to the top. This family friendly trail is easily enjoyed by a wide variety of people from young children to super seniors.
