Overview
San Francisco Waldorf High School seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Outdoor Education Program Coordinator and trip leader for a position starting with the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading adolescents, ages 13 – 19, on trips that are challenging physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially. This person will have a high degree of skill in managing experiential learning environments, teaching survival skills appropriate to the different grade levels and ushering students through threshold experiences. Deep enthusiasm for transmitting love and respect for nature is a must.
We are looking for a candidate who wants to be part of a Waldorf faculty and work in a highly collaborative environment.
Waldorf teacher training is preferred, but a strong candidate need only bring the willingness to learn about our approach and attend a training program within the first two years of employment.

San Francisco Waldorf School (SFWS) was founded in 1979 and currently enrolls 400 students throughout a parent-child program, a preschool program, kindergarten, and Grades 1-12. The high school campus is located in the West Portal neighborhood which is easily accessible via public transportation. Fifty percent of students identify as people of color.
Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Waldorf Teacher Training/Knowledge of or interest in Waldorf Education
Significant experience working with teens
Required Skills:
The candidate will have highly developed and specific skills in outdoor trip leadership that include:
Hiking, backpacking, camping, route finding
Facilitating adolescent group and solo experiences
Program Oversight and Management including health and safety of students and documentation
Transportation safety and procedures
Valid Wilderness First Responder certification (or willingness to obtain)
Knowledge of California’s environment
Manage program budget
