This position will be focused on walking significant portions of the 620 mile proposed Lost Sierra Route to ensure that the proposed trail alignment is buildable and well designed. This person should have a strong background in trail design, construction and trail use. The position will be responsible for GPS data collection in the field using a smartphone/tablet with Gaia GPS and Arc Field Maps. A working knowledge of ArcGIS Online would be a plus. Work will be conducted in teams of two with the addition of volunteer help in some cases. The candidate should be able to work effectively with a small team, and develop good professional working relationships with land management staff. Job sites will be in a variety of locations across Plumas, Sierra, Lassen and Butte Counties, with the majority of work centered around Plumas County. Daily work will involve hiking many miles of rugged terrain with no existing trails. Valid drivers license is required and experience on motorcycle/dirtbike is a plus. Position will be based out of Quincy, and travel will be required during the work week.

Collecting tidy and accurate GPS tracks of desired trail alignment in optimum location.
Organizing and delivering GPS tracks to GIS and Field Operations Manager.
Ensuring that the proposed alignments are going to be:
Fun-the desired candidate should have a solid understanding of trail flow for wheeled traffic and various types of users.
Safe-the trail alignments need to be analyzed with safety in mind, good sightlines, sensible crossings of other trails etc.
Sustainable-candidates should have a working knowledge of sustainable trail design principles (half rule, erosion mitigation, knowledge of sensitive species and areas).

Wilderness First Aid (Wilderness First Responder Ideal)
Experience working in remote areas
Experience with wheeled travel
Experience working with Volunteers
Strong Knowledge of plant and animal species identification (ideal)
Possess skills in GPS data collection
