Outdoor Programs Assistant Coordinator

Overview

Reports to the Director of Outdoor Education and Recreation. Assists with facilitation of all aspects of the college’s outdoor programs in support of the college’s distinctive academic program. General responsibilities include: provide leadership, support, and safety for undergraduate and graduate students; support and aid in the running of the Outdoor Program, and provide Student Activity Center operational support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work closely with OP student workers and assist with oversight of day-to-day Outdoor Program operations, including: vehicle safety checks; meal planning, food purchase, and expense tracking; trip advertisement; submission of internal and external trip documentation; management of HIPAA documents; coordination of pre-trip information meetings, including reservation of spaces; coordination of pre-trip communication with all trip participants; participant record keeping for growth initiatives as well as OP participant awards; inventory maintenance and monitoring; equipment rental program; other tasks as required.

Assist with special events and tasks as needed. May include monthly movie screenings/speaker nights; guiding or driving for OP outings; assistance with trails program development and oversight; assistance with curriculum development and facilitation of educational series.

Preferred Skills:

Please note that this position is part-time at 20 hrs/week, 12 months/year. However, there is a good degree of potential flexibility in scheduling. It is likely that an ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is interested in continuing to engage in part-time guiding or instructional work while building experience in program administration, logistics, and support.
