Overview
The Chief Instructor coordinates and mentors instructional staff to ensure quality program delivery and to create exceptional guest experiences.
You are a dedicated outdoor educator and believe in the value of experiential education. Our environment is dynamic, so a positive attitude towards change and the unexpected is crucial. You are self-motivated, flexible and creative and work well both collaborating with your colleagues and inspiring instructors.
Required Skills:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Recruit, select and hire instructional staff
Supervise instructional staff; providing feedback, coaching and mentoring
Schedule instructional staff in collaboration with co-Chief Instructor and Program Managers (PM)
Design and deliver instructor training for SPL programs
Conduct meetings with instructors and clients
Represent instructional staff in management meetings and on community issues
Develop educational program curriculum for the range of SPL clients
Preferred Skills:
Current 80+ hour Wilderness First Aid certificate
CPR C (mandatory minimum, must be current for the duration of employment)
Class 4 licence (15 passenger endorsement) and clean driver’s abstract required
Certification or diploma/degree in outdoor activities
Outdoor education and/or teaching experience
Excellent communication skills and proficiency with computers
Problem solving, multi-tasking, team building, ethics
Fluency in French is an asset
