Overview
Our team of Summer Instructors provide field science and environmental education programming for non-residential programs in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The primary focus of the Summer Instructor is on providing exceptional summer day camp programming for local and some visiting participants entering first through sixth grades. TSS summer day camps are nature- and play-based and can include campus adventures, explorations and field trips, day hikes, canoeing, and front-country camping.
Position dates: 6/13/22 – 8/12/22
Qualifications:
BS/ BA degree or course work in science, education or related field
At least one season of experience teaching with hands-on activities, inquiry-based field science or environmental science, and/or play-based learning ideally in a residential, day camp, or outdoor setting.
Wilderness First Responder certification
Minimum of 21 years of age.
Valid drivers license
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and in the workplace
Required Skills:
Experience co-teaching and lesson planning within a teaching team.
Experience working with students in first through sixth grades.
Experience with group management, social-emotional learning, responding to individual participant needs, and managing behavioral challenges.
Experience managing risk and traveling and teaching in the outdoors in variable weather conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in conversational Spanish is desirable but not required
Experience teaching science and natural history in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and/or the willingness to commit to learning this local content.
