The Wildland Trekking Company is hiring experienced guides for summer 2021 to run backpacking, base camp style, day hikes and inn-based trips in various branch locations. Wildland operates in many of the countries premier hiking destinations taking adults and families on unforgettable vacations. Our guides generally work about 12-20 days a month throughout the season. Season dates and length depends on location.
Areas we are currently hiring:
Asheville, NC – Spring through fall work in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains
Olympia, WA – Mid-June through September in the Olympics, Rainier and Cascades
Driggs, ID – late June through Mid September llama guiding and backpacking in WY and MT
Estes Park -late June through mid/late September in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Flat Tops
St.George, UT- Mid-April start through October/November. PT of FT work

Must have previous guiding experience. Competence in back country travel and living, strong leadership, teaching, interpretation, communication and customer service. Ability to find common ground and connect with novice guests of different ages, backgrounds and nationalities. A reliable vehicle. Ability to pick up and carry a heavy backpack for multiple hours/days . A passion to share with others this country’s inspiring natural wonders.
- At least 21 years old to guide/drive
- Previous guiding or outdoor leadership experience
- WFR/CPR certified
- Outdoor cooking skills
- Interpretation skills
- Service-oriented work ethic
- 8-15 passenger van/trailer driving experience
