Wildland Trekking is seeking guides to facilitate day hike, multi day backpack, base camp, lodge based, and llama supported trips to start summer 2025 in the Greater Yellowstone area. Operating Areas include: Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Absaroka-Beartooths, Wind River Range and Jackson Hole Area.
Llama Wrangler positions also work our stock supported trips. Llama wranglers are tasked with saddling, packing, walking with a string of trail llamas and caring for them in a co-guide team. Both guides are also responsible for usual human guest care, safety and satisfaction. Llama training provided.

Qualifications:

Please see our website for a full list of qualifications. Must have a WFR and significant personal and professional multi-day guiding experience in the backcountry. Wildland Trekking’s multi-day trips range from 3-7 days. Mileage ranges from 5-12 per day. Guides prepare 3 meals a day for guests in the field, teaching outdoor living skills, manage all aspects of the trip, and are responsible for interpretive information, risk management, and guest satisfaction.

Required Skills:

-Efficient and effective organizational skills, strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal communication and able to hike heavy loads 5-12 miles per day over varying terrain. Guides walk all day in beautiful locations carrying a heavy backpack, cook in the backcountry, manage risk in varied environments and weather, provide excellent customer service, interpretive information, and manage social dynamics in mixed groups.
-Area and interpretive knowledge is a HUGE plus

Preferred Skills:

-Training and professional experience in guiding and/or outdoor education (i.e. NOLS, Outward Bound, degree in Outdoor Education or related field, Wilderness Therapy, other Adventure Travel companies, etc).
-Leave No Trace certification.
-Expertise in at least one of our program locations.
-Speak and write English fluently. Fluent in French and/or German, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese a plus.
-Two years of commercial driving experience (any job where you had to at least occasionally transport passengers).
